Shooting a month of content in a single day

Creators who book a studio day and come without a list get about six usable pieces out of it. Creators who come with a list get thirty. The difference is entirely in the hour of planning beforehand.

Batch by setup, not by topic

The instinct is to shoot related videos together. Do the opposite: group everything that shares a background, an outfit and a camera position, regardless of subject. Every change of look costs ten minutes, and ten minutes times thirty is your whole day.

Write the first line, not the script

You do not need thirty scripts. You need thirty opening lines, because the hook is the only part that has to be exact. The rest you can talk through, and it will sound better than anything read off a prompter.

Thirty hooks on a sheet of paper is a productive studio day. Thirty finished scripts is a week of prep you will not do.

A workable day

  • 10:00 — arrive, set the first corner, test audio and framing
  • 10:30 — ten pieces on corner one, outfit A
  • 12:00 — change to corner two and outfit B
  • 12:30 — ten pieces on corner two
  • 14:00 — lunch, review what is working
  • 15:00 — corner three, the ten pieces that need the prompter
  • 17:00 — pickups, B-roll, transfer to your drive

Leave the last hour empty. Something in the first two corners will turn out better than expected, and you will want to shoot five more of those.
